The children’s splash pool will be closed for Winter, only the main pool will be open. The main pool will not be accessible to children 7 years old and younger because of the dangers cold water presents for children during this season

Pay as go drop in sessions will be available to book in advance and buy on the day (space permitting) however without enough Season ticket holders supporting this venture we will not be able to support the running of the Pool this Winter

The Lido will be cashless throughout Winter, drop in tickets can be paid with using card only

The pool will be closed for two weeks after our famous Dog Swims for deep cleaning and a water changeover

The unique crescent shaped pool at Saltdean Lido is a stunning, heated facility that combines, fun, family, fitness & heritage.
The 40m outdoor heated pool sits alongside a lovely grassed area for relaxing and sunbathing and is also used for so much more, from saunas and yoga to music evenings and our famous annual dog swim. This Grade 2* iconic setting also comprises a children’s splash pool and changing rooms and warm showers.
All visitors including serious swimmers, people with disabilities, leisure seekers and families are catered for, with private hire also available.

We have a shallow splash pool complete with fountains, perfect for young children to play in.
A lifeguard always supervises this.

The Sauna Corner @ Saltdean Lido
The Sauna Corner is a wood fired sauna, based poolside at Saltdean Lido all Winter.
The poolside Sauna experience includes a wood fired sauna, cold plunge pools, essential oils, a seated area to relax afterwards and
refreshments.
For a full wellness experience various sessions include, yoga, kettlebells, breath work and mediation too.
Both drop in and pre booked Sauna sessions are available and can all be booked directly with the Sauna Corner on their website.

How warm is the water?The pool is heated to approximately 25 degrees in Summer (May - September) and approximately 19 degrees in Winter (October - April). Please note the temperature of the weather will affect the water temperature slightly.

How long and how deep is the pool?The pool is 40m long. Unusually, the transition is from side to side. You enter the pool on the crescent shaped side with the fountain via steps and the pool transitions over to the other side to a depth of 1.9m. The Childrens splash pool is 0.3m at it deepest.

Are there swimming lanes?There are dedicated lane swimming sessions every morning and most evenings. Please see our swim programme for session times. The rest of the time the pool is shared between lane swimmers and an open swimming area. We have dedicated afterschool and family sessions for families, and young people.

Are you open all year?We are open seven days a week throughout our Summer Season (May - September). We are open every weekend morning throughout our Winter Season (October - April).

Is there a children’s pool?Yes, we have a smaller shallow splash pool for children, with play fountains which is always supervised by a lifeguard. This is 0.3m at its deepest.

Do I have to book online, or can I drop in?You are welcome to drop in, however we can be busy so we would recommend booking online to avoid disappointment.

How do I get to Saltdean Lido?Saltdean Lido is located just 15 minutes outside of Brighton along the South Coast. You can reach us by Car, bus, or Bicycle. Please see How to Get Here on the homepage for details.

Do you have changing rooms & lockers?We have communal changing rooms with lockable cubicles and a limited number of lockers that require a £1 coin. We also have communal warm showers and separate Men’s & Women’s toilets.

Do you have poolside showers?We do not have poolside showers. We have warm communal showers inside our changing block.

Do you have baby changing facilities?Yes, we have baby changing facilities in both the men’s and women’s toilets, and one in the communal changing area.

Can I bring in a picnic or my own food with me?You are welcome to bring in your refreshments to be eaten poolside. However, you can buy drinks and food inside the pool area which helps support the running of the Lido, keeping it here for future generations.

Is there parking for cars and bicycles?Saltdean Lido has two large free car parks, one opposite the lido and another behind it. We also have a cycle rack just outside for you to secure your bike to.. See the ‘How to Find Us' section on our website homepage for more details on how to find us.

Can swimming clubs hire lanes for training sessions?Yes, you can hire lanes, this is £40 per hour for 2023. Please contact info@saltdeanlido.co.uk to book this.

Are dogs allowed in the pool area?Dogs are not allowed into the pool area at all, except during our famous ‘Dog Swim Days’ in September, otherwise known as DOGTEMBER. However, guide dogs are welcome at all times.

Can I bring inflatables into the pool?Yes, small, non-rubber inflatables are allowed in the pool.

Can I have my child’s Birthday party at the Lido?Saltdean Lido is a fantastic place to celebrate children’s Birthdays. To do this please buy a swim ticket for all those attending for your preferred date and session time. You’re welcome to set up a picnic area on the lawns. Please be mindful of others also enjoying the Lido. Drinks & Snacks are available to buy on site. You are welcome to bring additional refreshments with you too. Can Spectators / non swimmers enter for free?To enter the Lido everyone will need to buy a swim ticket, regardless of whether you plan to use the pool or not. We do not offer a spectator only ticket.

Is there a seating area?We have picnic benches on the lawn area for you to use. You are also welcome to bring in your own camping or deck chairs too.

Can I smoke or vape onsite?The lido has a firm no smoking or vaping rule across the whole site. This is in place for the safety and comfort of others.

How accessible is the Pool for people with mobility issues?We have a separate accessible changing room with a track mounted remote controlled hoist (please bring your own harness), hydraulic remote controlled changing table, shower and toilet. We also have a poolside hoist to assist entry into the pool. The onsite staff are fully trained to assist entry and exit of the pool when required. Do you have a defibrillator onsite?Yes, there is a defibrillator onsite.

What is your refund policy if I am unable to use the pool?Please note that refunds will only be given in exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of Wave leisure. You may well be able to transfer your swim to an alternative day or time. Our Pool operator Wave Leisure can assist you with these requests. Are there any shaded areas?Fixed umbrellas are available on our benches. You can also bring your own parasol or small tent to offer shade for children.

What is your ratio of lifeguards to swimmers?We have approximately 1 lifeguard to 20 people. One lifeguard is dedicated to supervising. One lifeguard is dedicated to the children’s splash pool.

Can children be left onsite without an adult?All children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a supervising adult (over 16).

Can I book the Lido for a photo shoot or filming project?Yes, it is possible to hire the Lido for shoots, please contact events@saltdeanlido.co.uk for more information.

Will the pool close in bad weather?We will only close the pool when there are severe weather conditions (heavy rain, thunder, lightning or storms) and will re-open as soon as possible.

How do I book a sauna session?The Sauna Corner is a wood-fired sauna, based poolside at Saltdean Lido. All sessions are to be booked directly with Sauna Corner on their own website, www.thesaunacorner.com . You cannot book a Sauna session with Saltdean Lido directly.
