SALTDEAN PUBLIC LIBRARY IS NOW OPEN!
A library for everyone
The brand new Saltdean Public Library space benefits from a full restoration complete with comfortable furniture and a new layout, creating a bright and modern community hub everyone can enjoy.
Readers can now look forward to a wider selection of books of all genres, including books in other languages, audiobooks and books for people with dyslexia.
There is great content for families, including a great selection of new children’s books and sensory and interactive elements in the space.
Children and parents or carers will also be warmly welcomed to regular story time and activity sessions that encourage play as well as reading for pleasure.
There are IT and study spaces available throughout the library with computers, printers and a height adjustable desk for wheelchair users or those who prefer to stand.
Already hosting the local knitting group, the library wishes to encourage all groups and individuals to use the space to come together and share ideas and companionship.
Saltdean Library is ready to welcome customers after extensive refurbishment to the historic Grade II* listed Saltdean Lido, and we officially reopened on Tuesday 13 February 2024.
The library is now open seven days a week
A member of the Brighton and Hove Library Team will be in the Library on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
On Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday the Library will run as 'Libraries Extra', meaning there will be no staff in the library however users will still be able to use the self-service machines to borrow, return and renew books.
Users will also be able to make cash payments at the self-service kiosks and use one of the six library computers (there are four adult computers, and two for children).

Tuesday - 9am-5pm
Friday - 9am-5pm
Saturday - 9am-5pm
Saltdean Libraries Extra opening Times:
Monday: 9am -7pm
Wednesday 9am -7pm
Thursday 9am – 7pm
Sunday 11am – 5pm
To enter the Library during Libraries Extra opening times (when it’s unstaffed) you will need your Libraries Extra card and PIN.
